Have We Met?

I’m Megan!

Have we met?

I’m Megan!

Wife to my college sweetheart, Steve, mom to my eight awesome kids and joy upon joy, Grandma to my eight (so far) grandkids. They’re amazing … do you wanna see a picture?

I love writing, cooking, Agatha Christie, and feeding teenagers. I’m a little bit nerdy, and although my “job” puts me in front of crowds, I’m somewhat of an awkward turtle in social situations.

I’m a loyal member of Red Sox Nation, and Fenway Park is one of my favorite places on earth! I used to claim to love tennis and running, but the older I get, the more my go-to sports are hobbling into the kitchen for my first cup of coffee and trying to improve my best time in the “When will she get out of bed?” Olympics.

I’m a Jesus-loving girl and have been for the last 38 years. I didn’t grow up in a Christian home, but I met Jesus (through a tract- Can you believe it!) as a sophomore in college. He changed my life, rearranged my priorities, and there’s been no looking back.

This life has been an adventure!

I married a Naval aviator, and I became a military wife. Then he was hired by the airlines, and I learned creative ways to say hello, goodbye, and hello again. He started seminary, and I was a student’s wife. (The oldest one there … Thank you very much) Seminary led him to church planting, and suddenly I was a pastor’s wife. And I don’t even play the piano!

Along the way, I birthed, trained, and homeschooled seven children and adopted another one.

I love symmetry, schedules, routines, organization, and order. I’m pretty sure God agrees with me on those things because He gave me four boys and four girls, who have since provided me with four grandsons and four granddaughters.

Coincidence? I think not!

Why this blog? And why now?

Life has changed dramatically in the last ten years. My kids are grown. Steve still flies for the airlines, but he no longer is a pastor, and we’ve moved from the frigid (dark, gray, snowy, slushy, messy) Northeast to warm, lovely North Carolina.

Instead of my old title of “Stay at Home Mom,” now my husband Steve and I travel across the country and overseas teaching parenting, marriage, youth character development, and discipleship conferences.

I love sharing God’s Word with moms and dads, singles, and teens, but I’m always a bit frustrated by our time constraints.

There’s so much I want to share and so little time…

This blog is an effort to continue that conversation with all of you. God is continually working to convict and challenge me, and I’m praying that His work in my life can bring encouragement, conviction, challenge, and growth to yours.

In case you’re wondering…

I love the Word of God! I have a Master’s degree in Church Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Counseling, and I’m pursuing my Doctorate of Ministry focused on Ministry to Emerging Generations. However, my love for, study of, and continual journey toward conformity to the Word of God began long before my “educational” pursuits. God’s Word has shaped me. It has transformed me. And, it continues to grow and change me (prayerfully) into the image of Christ.

I can make some promises to you…

Whatever I share with you here has already been used by God to meddle in my own life.

I have no desire to share my opinions (and I assume you have even less desire to read my opinions), so I can promise that my blogs are always filtered through the Word of God before they show up on these pages.

By the way, blogging is lonely if I don’t hear from you. I want your comments (even if we disagree), and I’m excited to get to know each one of you!

You’ll learn more about me from my blogs. Sometimes, I’m just a mess, but I’m for sure God’s mess! Let’s get busy Building Character and Making Memories- the more, the better!
